Hi there, I’m Lilly Bennett!
And welcome to my little nook on the internet, where tea is always brewing, something delicious is on the stove, and the kitchen smells just like home. I’m the hands, heart, and slightly flour-dusted face behind everything you see here. I’m also the creator of LillyRecipes.com, my cozy online kitchen where I share the kind of comforting, flavourful dishes I make for my family every week.
I was born and raised in a small town just outside of Bath, England, where rainy afternoons and roast dinners were the norm. Now I’m based in Canada, living in Toronto with my partner Alex, who doubles as my eager taste-tester, and our curious cat, Crumpet, who thinks every baking session is a personal invitation to supervise.
Cooking has always been more than a task for me. It’s therapy, memory, and creativity all rolled into one. I grew up learning from my mum and nan, watching them knead dough, simmer stews, and chat about life while stirring a pot. They taught me that food isn’t just about sustenance it’s a way to bring people together, to show care, and to make even an ordinary Tuesday feel special.
Here, you’ll find recipes that are deeply rooted in comfort but always open to a twist. Think shepherd’s pie with a hint of rosemary and garlic mash, scones with unexpected bursts of orange zest, or a curry inspired by a trip to Sri Lanka. Everything I share is designed to be doable, delicious, and full of heart whether you’re cooking for one or wrangling a hungry crowd after work.
I adore the slow moments in the kitchen the ones where you’re stirring soup while rain taps the window, or you’re baking a cake just because it makes the whole house smell like happiness. But I also know life can get busy. That’s why I focus on realistic recipes for real life. Nothing fussy, nothing overly fancy. Just good, honest food that you can feel proud of.
One of my greatest joys is seeing what you’re cooking! If you try a recipe, tag me on Pinterest @lillyskitchenstories so I can cheer you on. I love sharing reader creations and celebrating your wins, from perfect pancakes to slightly overbaked cookies (we’ve all been there, trust me).
Outside the kitchen, I’m a lover of rainy day reads, weekend hikes, and spontaneous kitchen dance parties. I believe in second chances, extra gravy, and that everyone has at least one signature dish inside them, just waiting to be discovered.
So pull up a chair, pour yourself a cuppa, and make yourself at home. Let’s cook something lovely together.
