Ingredients

  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, diced onion, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Form into 6–8 oval-shaped patties and set aside while preparing the gravy.
  3. Brown patties in an oven-safe skillet for 3–4 minutes per side until golden; remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté sliced onions in butter. Add flour and stir for 2 minutes.
  5. Whisk in beef broth and heavy cream until smooth.
  6. Nestle patties into the gravy, cover tightly, and bake at 350°F for 45 minutes. Then uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
