Ingredients
Scale
- 6 large croissants, preferably day-old
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Tear the croissants into bite-sized pieces and evenly distribute them in the prepared baking dish.
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the croissant pieces.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the croissant and chocolate layers in the baking dish.
- Gently press down on the croissant pieces to ensure they soak up the egg mixture.
- Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the liquid.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar if desired before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, try adding a teaspoon of cinnamon to the egg mixture.
- You can also substitute the chocolate chips with fruit like berries or bananas for a fresh twist.
