Description
Juicy, spicy, and quick to make, these Firecracker Chicken Skewers are coated in bold homemade sauce and cooked in the air fryer, oven, or grill for a fiery, crowd-pleasing meal.
Ingredients
wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 recipe firecracker sauce, or 1 cup store-bought
crushed red pepper, for garnish
parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine cubed chicken, olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
2. Thread 4-5 chicken cubes onto each soaked skewer.
3. Reserve half of the firecracker sauce. Brush remaining sauce over chicken.
4. Place skewers in a single layer in air fryer basket.
5. Air fry at 400°F for 11-12 minutes, flipping halfway through.
6. Check internal temp for 165°F doneness.
7. Remove and brush with reserved sauce.
8. Garnish with crushed red pepper and chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
You can substitute chicken thighs for a juicier version.
Marinate chicken for 30 minutes to 1 hour for deeper flavor don’t exceed 2 hours.
To bake: Preheat oven to 400°F and bake for 20-25 minutes. Brush sauce after baking.
To grill: Cook over medium-high heat for 8-10 minutes per side. Brush sauce after grilling.
